It’s been an intense and exciting second half to 2015 for the whole 100%Open team. Working very closely and collaboratively with UBS, we launched The UBS Future of Finance Challenge on 12th August 2015, an open competition for entrepreneurs and technology startups around the world.
UBS was looking for innovative and potentially disruptive technological ideas and solutions that will support the transformation of the banking industry. On the 10th of December 2015, UBS announced the winners of the Challenge at the Global Final held in Zurich, Switzerland. You can see a video about the process and the Global Finals below.
Three winners of the UBS Future of Finance Challenge were selected from over 600 participants from 52 countries. It is UBS’s aspiration to support the competition winners in their bid to commercialise and scale their ideas and technologies by leveraging on its significant global presence, deep expertise in global banking and eco-system of innovation partners. Rewards for the regional and global finalists include cash prizes and acceleration opportunities worth over USD $300,000 and over 300 hours of dedicated coaching and mentoring from UBS experts and partners.
It’s been an absolute privilege to work with the UBS team at every step along the way, as well as with the incredibly talented cohort of FinTech start-ups from all around the world over the past 5 months on this programme. Suffice it to say the whole initiative has exceeded our expectations in terms of level, quality and intensity of engagement from everybody involved. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with this new fast moving innovation community to reinvent the future of finance together in 2016.
