Babcock Innovation Space

Sector: Engineering & Design

Our brief: To feed into the creation of an ‘innovation space’ in a new-build office in Bristol for the Group Technology and Innovation team and the Technology Executive Group.

What we did: The goal for the new workspace was to showcase the innovation capacity of Babcock and to offer hot-desking space for members of the Group Technology and Innovation team. 100%Open worked with the Group Technology and Innovation Team to learn and understand what needs they had from their current workspace. There was also the need to challenge assumptions about the future workspace and to determine their hopes and aspirations for it and account for other users of the new space including external stakeholders such as clients and potentially SME innovators.

What happened: Insights were gathered by Babcock‘s Group Technology and Innovation team through Service Safaris to inspiring co-working spaces and innovation hubs in Bristol and London. Insights around key features and benefits were then prioritised at a half-day Explore Jam and ideas around potential showcase items and technologies were discussed and explored. Digital Sketches and mood boards were then produced to provide initial recommendations for how space might be utilised and to visualise the kinds of items that may lie within it and the behaviours of those using it.

They demonstrated professionalism which built confidence in the process and project among the team.” -Malcolm Lee, Group Head of Technology and Innovation, Babcock
