Questions that Connect Us

Even though people share 99.5% of the same DNA we seem to find it so much easier to focus on the 0.5% that makes us different. Yet we have so much in common with absolute strangers. If in doubt, ask questions that surface hidden connections, as rather beautifully demonstrated in this short film.

I’m told by a Danish friend that the TV channel that this video is advertising is a bit lightweight and doesn’t quite live up to the aspiration of the film. But I don’t think that really matters as this is such a nice illustration of the principal that we should “connect on our similarities and benefit from our differences” as Valdis Krebs say.

We certainly always try to as questions that connect us through our work at 100%Open, including through little warm-ups like the Birthday Paradox. It’s such a simple way to recognise, value and surface the hidden connections between people and it strikes me that we could all do with a bit more of that right now.
