Roland co-founded 100%Open, coming from NESTA where he was Director of Open Innovation. Graduating with a PhD in physics from Edinburgh University, he has held senior innovation roles in the utilities and media industries and in addition has worked with 100′s of start-ups to raise venture capital and commercialise technology. In addition he has worked as a TV and film music producer for SonyBMG.

David co-founded 100%Open, spinning out of NESTA where he led Corporate Open Innovation. A biology graduate, David has a background in advertising, branding and design, having held strategy directorships at DDB, Seymourpowell and Moving Brands. He has helped diverse clients from Christian Aid to Unilever to innovate their messages, brands and products. David is currently writing a book that investigates the role of human emotion in decision-making.
Carmen Marrero – Communication

Carmen has been an associate of 100%Open since 2011. She is a specialist in the marketing of services through integrated media and the use of partnerships and networks. She runs her own consultancy helping clients find and express their point of differentiation. Over the last decade, she has worked with some of the leading thinkers in the area of branding and innovation, including Wolff Olins, Wally Olins at Saffron, and IDEO. Carmen is a classical pianist by training.
Sean Miller – Programmes & Service Design

Sean joined 100%Open as an associate in 2010. A former project engineer, management consultant and saved by service design and open innovation, Sean has worked on oil platforms in the North Sea, pulp and paper factories in Norway and everything in-between. With a glass half-full disposition mixed with the rigorous application of uncommon sense, he helps clients to deliver brilliant programmes. Sean writes movie scripts in his spare time and is still looking for his first buyer and runaway success.

David joined 100%Open as an associate in 2011. A designer and design manager whose work has involved the innovation of such things as; returnable transit packaging, knowledge management systems, cat flaps, educational programmes, online courses for aspiring playwrights and automated banking services. David uses strategic design management methods to enable clients’ business to grow. When not at work, he is most likely to be found in his campervan, with the family, heading for the coast.

Daniel joined 100%Open as an associate in 2010. After spending a few years in small organisations, he moved to What If and then WPP to work with some of the world’s largest. Though his work has spanned countries from China to Canada and clients from AstraZeneca to Vodafone, the constant has been a desire to help people find innovative solutions to business problems. So naturally his most overused expressions are ‘Interesting!’ and ‘Why?’.

Andrew joined 100%Open as an associate in 2010. As ex-head of strategy at digital agency Worth. Andrew has over a decade’s experience in digital marketing and communications. For clients as diverse as COI, GlaxoSmithKline, Channel 4 and British Library, he has helped them break new ground in digital technology. He specialises in user-led platforms, mobilising communities to collaborate, share stories and change behaviour. When not online, Andrew heads for the hills, seeking out the most miserable weather this country has to offer.

Daniel joined 100%Open as an associate in 2011. He has worked in investment banking which, along with the other banking skills, taught him about bringing disparate parties together to achieve a common goal. He co-founded and ran his own venture backed startup company and has worked in management and consultant roles for others. Daniel helps clients apply research and analytical frameworks to develop and strengthen business ideas and to collaborate with partners to bring them to life.

Murray joined 100%Open as an associate in 2011. Emerging from art school as a Product Designer he has since worked in Graphic Design, in Interactions for Microsoft Research, and in Service Design for pioneering agency live|work. With a user-centric approach he has helped local authorities get long term unemployed back to work, art galleries rethink their service offerings, and private organisations better understand their partners, employees and customers. Murray helps our clients visualise what they are thinking in an instantly memorable fashion.

Using a dynamic tool kit of knowledge, skills and techniques, Simone leads on account management and supports the 100% Open associates network across our varied client base. Taking a partnership approach in order to deliver bespoke and multi disciplinary solutions, Simone loves turning ideas into action – blending a can-do attitude and collaborative spirit, with a sensitivity for what each part of the system needs. In her spare time, Simone sings in a harmony choir and loves swimming outdoors in her local lido.

A Textile Design graduate that fell towards good causes, Lucy has over 10 years of charity fundraising experience, from large national organsiations including the NSPCC, to small local causes. Lucy is passionate about how creative thinking and collaboration can transform organisational and individual performance. She trains and coaches not-for-profits in creativity and innovation skills. When she’s not leading workshops she can mostly be found under the sea scuba diving or singing karaoke.

A creative and hands-on entrepreneurial and professional engineer, Simon brings a detailed understanding of technology, and diverse and well-developed commercial skills. Combining enthusiasm for innovation with passion for market delivery, he leads and contributes to the invention and delivery of new products and services that work effectively and profitably in context — both human and commercial. He always seeks roles that require an excellent understanding of people and technology that offer a rare chance to “put a dent in the universe”.
Katie Walsh – Online Community Manager

Katie joined 100%Open as an associate in 2011, specialising in moderating productive online communities. Having trained as a theatre designer and then art teacher, she most recently was the Editor of Planet Science, an award winning online community for students, parents and teachers. She also co-ran a science film making competition SciCast and developed a ‘Hidden Science Map’ dipping into improvised comedy and radio reporting along the way. She also sings in the harmony trio, The Fuchsias.

Jogesh joined 100%Open as Networks Director in 2012. Previously he was Head of Open Innovation at Orange, where he was responsible for blazing the trail of Open Innovation for Everything Everywhere, France Telecom Group, Orange Labs and Orange UK. His passion is to tackle organisational antibodies and make innovation happen within complex organisations. On Saturday mornings he enjoys the challenge of chasing after his two-year old daughter while trying to teach her French.

Kim joined 100%Open as an associate in 2012. Kim has spent 10 years working across the corporate and third sector and trains and coaches senior management in the UK’s largest and smallest charities in fundraising strategy. She was a founding Director of The Foundation for Social Improvement, a founding Fellow of Profit with Purpose, an RSA fellowship network and a Trustee of Sail 4 Cancer. Cassie Robinson – Strategic Design & Networks

Cassie joined 100%Open as an Associate in 2012. As a 1st Class fashion graduate Cassie co-founded her own design enterprise and was named a Creative Pioneer by Nesta in 2004. She has since turned her design practice toward social concerns and gained an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology specialising in collective efficacy, networks, strengths based approaches and behaviour change. Alongside working on a range of projects for clients such as the Nominet Trust and FutureGov she is Innovator In Residence at Hub Westminster, sits on the Board of Snook, and the Advisory Board for Social Spaces. Cassie is also curating a book on vulnerability and intimacy to be released later this year.

James specialises in rapid early-stage business development. An experienced consultant and business owner he set up a company, with input from industry associations and regulatory bodies, that built game-changing software now being adopted by the consumer credit industry. More recently he has been helping the Science & Technology Facilities Council to fast-track the commercialisation of emerging technologies.

Nick joined 100%Open as an associate in 2009. He is an expert on collaboration mindsets, having founded one of the first innovation agencies in the 90s, training senior staff from Virgin, Orange, PepsiCo, Unilever, Diageo, PlayStation & Shell using open innovation principles. He holds a triple 1st Class Degree in Philosophy and Medicine from Cambridge, has starred on BBC TV and Radio as a leadership coach.

Andrew joined 100%Open as an associate in 2011. Graduating with a PhD in Chemistry from Cambridge University, Andrew began his career at Library House, a UK-based provider of intelligence on fast-growth, innovation-led private companies across Europe. More recently, he was head of Cleantech Group’s Global Innovation and Investment Trends practice. Andrew has built and managed intelligence products that have helped global companies such as IKEA, GE, DuPont, BP, Philips and BASF to discover investment opportunities and sector-specific partners.
Guy White – Creative Problem Solving
Guy joined 100%Open as an associate in 2012. Guy spent over 12 years working to launch, turnaround and grow some of the worlds most recognised brands in the FMCG, automotive and energy sectors across Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is based in Geneva. He spends his time introducing open innovation to Swiss based companies and demonstrating why it is important to become more creative. He loves helping clients develop exciting brand strategy and has an enormous passion for people development. In his spare time he can be found on the ski slopes around Switzerland or above them learning to paraglide.
Gina LoBuglio – Studio Manager & Network Coordinator
Gina joined 100%Open in 2013 as our Studio Manager and Network Coordinator. Focused on improving future prospects, she criss-crossed the planet from her native San Francisco to Dublin and back again before earning an undergraduate degree in English literature at Goldsmiths College. With a background in retail management, customer service and administration, she prides herself on an ability to build strong relationships and enjoys being useful. When not doing her teenage son’s laundry, Gina can be found working out at a small fitness studio in Shoreditch.
Chloe Booker – Account Manager
Chloe joined 100%Open in 2013 to assist with account and project management. Her background is in management consultancy – principally for Capgemini Consulting and she has worked for a range of corporate, public, charity and cultural organisations in the UK and the Netherlands. Most recently Chloe has set up and curated and series of cross cutting events to showcase different art forms which is growing from strength to strength. Being a classically trained trumpet player, it’s something she is rather passionate about!
Richard Telford – Designer
Richard joined 100%Open as an associate in 2013. He has worked within the innovation and design sector for the past 8 years, gaining experience as a senior designer for the service design consultancy live|work and more recently as a service design manager for Orange. He’s comfortable in a range of project roles but gets the greatest satisfaction from helping clients to communicate their thinking by creating clear and engaging visualisations.
Donal O’Connell - Intellectual Property Associate
Donal joined 100%Open in 2013. He worked in engineering for many years at Atari, Philips and Nokia, but then fell into intellectual property management. Donal now helps clients to appreciate their intellectual capital, assets and property, and to ensure that they then manage these intangibles in an efficient and effective manner. An Adjunct Professor at Imperial College Business School where he teaches about IP management, he has also published two books: ‘Inside the Patent Factory’ and ‘Harvesting External Innovation’. If Donal does get any spare time, he likes spending it in his garage tinkering with his old classic car.
